Dr Melanie Burnet

Melanie graduated from the University of Queensland in 2002. She subsequently worked for a number of years in hospital medicine, particularly in Anaesthetics and Intensive Care, before commencing GP fellowship training. She attained fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2016.

She holds a Diploma in Child Health, and is an antenatal shared care GP for the Mater Hospital. Melanie is an accredited doctor with the Skin Cancer College of Australasia and has a special interest in skin cancer. She also holds additional qualifications in dermoscopy (diagnosis of skin cancers) and skin cancer treatment, including surgery. She offers a practical, evidence based approach to health, including the principles of "Health at Every Size" (HAES)

Melanie is a mother of two young children and loves to read, cook and garden in her spare time. She speaks French as a second language. She brings an empathic, non-judgemental approach to her work as a doctor.
